Safety Information for Static Eliminator Devices Connected
with Corrugated Cables

It has been reported and analyzed that the long-term use (over 10 years) of high-voltage cables in the anti-static devices on your Totani machine pose a risk of sparking due to the degradation of the cable's insulation functionality.

A single spark may have a limited impact on the machine. However, if a spark occurs when flammable materials are present nearby, there is a risk of fire.

Therefore, we strongly recommend checking the condition of the anti-static cables and devices and making sure to keep flammable materials away from the equipment.

Refer to the instruction below to avoid a risk of fire.

1. Target Devices

Any anti-static bars & cables from SHISHIDO.

There are two types of the high-voltage cables for the anti-static components. The corrugated cables and the cabtire cables, and the corrugated ones (discontinued) have a higher risk because they are not shielded, and insulation performance degrades over time with use.

We would like you to consider replacing the corrugated type with newer cabtire type.

Maintenance Instruction

【Safety Procedure】

For your safety, please turn off all powered devices prior to doing any inspection, maintenance or cleaning.

It is also recommended to shut down the machine, especially if it has been left idling.

1. Daily maintenance

  • Check for any burn marks or damaged parts on the static elimination unit.
  • Keep flammable items or accumulated debris away from the high-voltage cables and anti-static bars. Accumulated film waste or debris also pose a fire hazard.

    • Check that the connector is securely connected.
    • Check that wires are not exposed and are properly insulated.
    • Use a termination plug (right pic) for any unused connectors.

    2. Daily cleaning

    • Clean the entire wiring route from the power unit to the static eliminator bar.
    • Remove all flammable items from around the unit. Removing all flammable items helps prevent fire hazards even if sparks occur.

Sincerely
